Award-winning actor Jiro Manio is now homeless and reportedly staying at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
According to Inquirer's Facebook post, Manio, whose real name is Jiro Katakura, was found roaming around the NAIA Terminal 3 for four days now. He is able to survive after employees and crews of the airport give him his basic needs.
In an interview, Manio said he stumbled in the airport after a group of unidentified men ganged up on him.
A security guard from terminal 3 notedFrank Sorca, a guard on duty of NAIA, told the reporters that he pitied the actor and he obviously needed some help.
"He looked as if he hasn't had a decent meal and his clothes were dirty," he recalled noting that he immediately provided him with food, clothes and toiletries.
However, Manio declined to clean himself.
Sorca said he asked Manio why he is staying at the airport. The actor said he left home, because he had many enemies there. He also doesn't want to leave the terminal because he would only get hurt outside.
Sorca added that the actor constantly changes his answers, thinking that he might be mentally ill.
"But when I asked him again at a different time, he told me a different story. He constantly changes his answers," the security guard said.
In 2004, the only 12-year-old Manio won the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Award for best child actor in 2004 for his role in the movie Magnifico. He also won the Luna or Film Academy of the Philippines best actor awrds, and the Gawad Urian for the same film.
In 2011, Manio shared of his tough times after being put to rehabilitation for drug abuse, followed with a year of therapy.
