A 13 year old girl was the victim of a snake bite which in turn caused her leg to turn completely black and horrifically shrivel up. The video clip become trending topic online as it shows a leg of a girl resembling a mummified body part due to the poison of the snake.
According to MailOnline, the girl who is unidentified, was first treated by remedies from the indigenous culture she was from, according to a photograph posted on Instagram by the username 'juventudmedica'.
The snake's venom caused severe necrosis.
Necrosis, which is the premature death of cells. The condition was so severe it caused the tissue in the leg to rot away and essentially "die". The girl did not seek proper medical treatment until a month after the bite. She instead used remedies from the indigenous culture she was from. Eventually she was brought to a hospital in Caracas, Venezuela.
Due to the severe necrosis, a condition called rhabdomyolysis, where muscle tissue throughout the body begins to die. Doctors said that in order to prevent more serious complication, the leg should be immediately amputate.
