Jose Manalo’s Statement on Daughter's Alleged Suicide Attempt

"Eat Bulaga's" mainstay host and veteran comedian, Jose Manalo, finally broke his silence regarding the latest controversy involving one of his daughters who allegedly attempt to commit suicide, on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

According to reports, his 17-year-old daughter allegedly attempted suicide because of Manalo's lack of support given to them, she is also saddened because her siblings are suffering from the same fate, as mentioned in a suicide note, wherein she expressed her dismay.


In a statement sent to ABS-CBNnews, Jose Manalo's was quoted as saying that he is "deeply saddened by the recent reports that one of his daughters attempted to take her own life, allegedly because of his refusal to send her to her choice of school," he stated.


The 48-year-old Jose Manalo also denied the allegations made by his former wife, Anna Lyn, that he isn't providing financial support for his children. He stressed that he has maintained the support for his family "providing, and will continue to provide his children such support to the best of his ability." Manalo said.


During the interview Manalo also clarified that, upon his request, part of his pay as co-host of "Eat Bulaga'" is automatically remitted to the respective schools of his children with his estranged wife, Anna Lyn.


Meanwhile, Jose Manalo's legal counsel, also noted that "Contrary to the baseless allegations being made against him, Jose has been diligently observing and following the orders of the Court as regards the support requested by Anna Lyn and their children," as they refer to an earlier legal battle between Jose Manalo and his wife.


The comedian also urging former partner, Anna Lyn to stop herself from spreading malicious rumors about him that are not beneficial for their children. He is also saddened by the fact that these rumors are catching the attention of the media, and even made public statements as regards the condition of their children.


These things will not benefit their children, Jose added. He called on the media not to put focus on their family squabbles and to respect the privacy of his children.
