The Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 74, Taguig City has issued warrants of arrest against Cedric lee, Deniece Cornejo and five others, who are all facing grave coercion cases in connection with the mauling of actor-host Vhong Navarro.
DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima on Monday, April 14, 2014 confirmed the issuance of arrest warrants against Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, Bernice Lee, Simeon Palma Raz, Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Sajed Fernandez Abuhijleh.
Sec. de Lima said that Judge Bernard Bernal of Taguig City MTC issued the arrest warrant against the seven accused last Friday.
"Just got information that the court where the case for grave coercion vs Cedric Lee, et al was assigned had already issued arrest warrants last Friday, April 11," she said.
Aside from the grave coercion case, Lee and the others are facing serious illegal detention case for the same incident. Grave coercion is bailable, unlike their serious illegal detention case.
"Even if it (grave coercion) is bailable, at least it would prevent any attempted departure by any of the accused. They need to post bail and secure court permission to leave Philippine jurisdiction," De Lima said in a text message.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand Guerrero, one of the suspect on the case of Vhong Navarro, attempted to leave the PH, earlier today. However, he was spotted by Immigration officials, the incident happened at around 4:43 a.m., while lined up at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 108 bound for Hong Kong.
