Mocha Girls Arrested in Malaysia for Working Without Permit

Members of the all-girl pop group Mocha Girls were arrested in Malaysia on Friday last week for performing without permit.

DFA Assistant Secretary Charles Jose said the six-member group and their promoter were held by the immigration officials of Malaysia last September 4 for "violating the social visit pass by performing without necessary permit."

"Binisita kaagad sila nung dumating sa kaalaman ng embassy para alamin ang kanilang kalagayan. Kinausap din ng embassy ang immigration to find out kung anong magiging disposition ng immigration about the case," he said.

Jose learned from the embassy in Kuala Lumpur that Malaysian immigration let the group go without pressing charges.

"The immigration has decided not to file charges but just to fine them," Jose added.

Via the group's official Facebook account, the group updated everyone that they were able to go back to the Philippines safe. The group added that they will reveal the whole story anytime soon.
