Singer-actress Cynthia Patag has apologized to the typhoon Yolanda survivors after she called them "squatters," she also deleted her Facebook post on Tuesday. Her Facebook post went viral immediately after it was shared by netizens not only on Facebook but also on Twitter.
On her latest Facebook post, Cynthia Patag stated that "I deleted 2 posts, the 2nd was a repost, wherein I mentioned the Yolanda victims in Tacloban who where given bunk houses, were dissatisfied with the accommodations. It was insensitive and I’m sorry." she said.
The comedienne stated during her earlier post that the victims of Yolanda were used to be squatters after some Yolanda survivors complained to the media that the government is providing special treatment to the senators who are facing plunder charges in connection with the pork barrel scam issue.
She said there is no basis on the complaint of the Yolanda survivors.
"Nagrereklamo ang mga Yolanda victims dahil mas maganda ang Camp Crame detention centers para kay Sen. Revilla at Sen. Etrada kesa sa bunk houses the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) built for them for free? To begin with, they used to be squatters! Whose camp is stoking the flames of collective outrage vs. the Pnoy (Aquino) administration here? Incredible." she posted.
After her post got the ire of many netizens, she removed it and apologized for it. Some netizens praised Patag for owning her mistake and apologizing for it.
